Kiddo #2 goes to a great preschool that tries to encourage tons of play outdoors. One of the ways is having gear in the yard for kids to play on that might not otherwise get a chance to see.
For a year they’ve had an old canoe in the yard, and the kids love it. A week or so ago some dirtbag climbed the fence and stole the kids canoe.
We put out a call for a new replacement boat and one of my friends happen to be getting rid of a warranty river boat with a cracked hull.
This is Missy delivering the new boat to the yard this morning;
Doesn’t seem excited at all..

what kinda scum steals a canoe!?
that feels like the kind of thing you can just leave tied up at a dock and it never be bothered with. but over a fence, in a yard, and someone takes it!?

Some people... I remember having my camp stove stolen camping once. My stove. It wasn’t even left out, it was hidden.

And especially a crappy old one that’s been hand painted by 30- four year olds.. From out of their schoolyard.
I hope they take this one and jump in a river with it..

one has to assume drugs, alcohol, teenage idiocy, or a combination of all three were involved.

I half-hoped it might show up again.. but it’s probably junked somewhere by now.
I contemplated cutting huge holes all through this boat just to make it obvious that it was not a viable sea going vessel.. but I had images of kids sticking hands out of the holes and getting pinched so I didn’t.

were it teenagers, it’s likely to appear about 10ft down stream from the closest water entrance to your place.
likely a wet iphone will be inside the failed canoe

People will steal anything. My neighbor set a fry daddy on his back porch to cool off. He went out ten minutes later to check on it and it was gone. That’s right, someone stole a fry daddy full of hot oil from my neighbor’s back porch. We never found a dead spot in the grass, so they must have needed the oil to fry something.
